UNU-EGOV Art Challenge

In conceptual terms, the creation of these drawings involved a close collaboration between the artist and the code, highlighting two fundamental aspects:The artist uses code and machine learning as tools that accompany the conceptualization and production process. The potential of code and algorithms are used as sources of concepts and inspiration, allowing art to be produced in collaboration with autonomous technological agents. This approach does not place the artist above these agents, but alongside them, using them to benefit artistic creation and to enrich the artist's actions and decisions.The art created with the intervention of these technological agents demonstrates a new form of participation, where code is not just a passive tool, but an active collaborator. Technological agents help to formulate and answer questions, participating and collaborating directly in creative processes. This results in works of art that are the result of a unique synergy between human creativity and technological capabilities, leading to new forms of expression and artistic innovation.The “UNU-EGOV Art Challenge” Drawing and Painting Competition, promoted by the United Nations University, in which 10 projects were selected, which were part of the “UNU-EGOV Art Challenge” Exhibition, on display in the United Nations University building at the Couros Campus, Vila Flor, Guimarães.Projects must be conceptually based on the mission of UNU-EGOV, as a research, consultancy and training center focused on the use of digital technologies to improve and support governance and public policies, with a view to sustainable economic and social development, social inclusion and active citizenship. Proposals must also respect and be inspired by the general principles contained in the Charter of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda
